You can choose to have your painting produced on an acid free, 100% coated cotton hot press paper. This fine art paper is not only acid, lignin, and chlorine free, it is also pH buffered with calcium carbonate for a true archival sheet. It is best displayed by matting and framing under glass or plexiglass. We do not offer matting because of the array of choices needed nor do we ship glass because of the liability, so these ship unframed.

Can I mail in an actual photograph instead of a digital one? What is needed from me to turn photo into painting?Yes, we will scan your photo for you and return it to you. We promise to take good care of it for you. We know that some favorite photographs are a little older than digital cameras and you may not have access to a scanner. There is currently no charge for this service which is necessary to turn photos into art. If you scan it yourself, select a higher resolution and size. The better scans turn photo into painting with better results.
How do I know whether I will prefer a photos into art painting on canvas or the fine art paper?Most people (over 95% of our photos to art customers) prefer canvas for a number of reasons: the technique has a softly textured brushstroke quality built into it so when printed, and wrapped it looks just like the original commissioned piece of art that it is. The paintings on fine art paper also look great but usually incur the added expense of matting and framing with glass or plexiglass, which you will need to handle on your end since we don't ship glass.
Do you use real paint and brushes when you turn photos into art on canvas?All of the photo painting effects are achieved by digital manipulation (a series of carefully selected filters designed to turn photo into painting) in the computer. The pigment is applied to the canvas in a special printing process.
What is stretching and wrapping (museum wrap)?A more contemporary trend is hanging paintings without a frame that is visible, but having the painted image stretched around the edges of the wooden stretcher bars. When done with standard ¾” stretcher bars, the painting can be framed later if desired but when we turn photos into art it is ready to hang right out of the box!
My photo needs a little retouching before being made into a painting. Can you do this?Absolutely. Please include any comments about desired improvements to your photos into art proof and we’ll take it from there. Minor revisions are free, we’ll let you know if the changes warrant a $50 upcharge. Small changes are a matter-of-course when you turn photo into painting.
If I have a problem with the way my photos to art preview looks can I get a revision?Yes. We will create additional painting proofs at no cost based on your comments. The goal is to have you become so comfortable with what you will be getting that it removes any anxiety from the process of ordering your custom artwork. I'm not sure if I should go with the Painting technique or the PhotoReal approach when I turn photo into painting, can I see a proof of each?The choice of how much realism versus 'painterly' effect when you choose to turn photos into art is totally subjective. We are happy to provide a proof of each if it will help you decide. And additional photos to art proofs with more or less realism can be provided as well. There's no wrong way to turn photos into art (unless the overall resolution is insufficient), the aesthetic choices are yours.
Can I get good framing at the same time I get my photos into art done?Our framers have 20 years of professional experience and offer both thin and wide quality wood frame profiles in 6 colors. Your photos into art pieces will look second to none!
Can I buy my photos to art piece unframed?Yes, as long as you understand that 'no framing' means the photos into art canvas is shipped rolled in a tube and you will handle the stretching and framing on your end.
What about shipping costs for photos to art?We currently have three flat rates based on an average size and weight cost of shipping by either UPS Ground or 2-Day Air. The ground shipping for any stretched or framed art is $19.99 and air is $59.99, both include professional UPS packing. Non-stretched and non-framed canvases that ship
rolled in a tube are $9.99 for UPS Ground and is the most economical option.
