Photo File Size Issues

Photo File Size

"How big does my photo file need to be?" Most digital photo images are fine in terms of total pixel size for photos into art conversions. The most frequent problem we encounter is that the image uploaded is not the actual photo file but the much smaller thumbnail PREVIEW file, which appears to look OK when viewed on the computer screen very small, but lacks the resolution to turn photos into art that has any real detail. We will alert you right away by sending an email message when this is the case and it is the corresponding actual photo data file that is needed to be found on your hard drive and re-uploaded.

Another problem turning photos into art from client uploads are very old images created on the first digital cameras or cell phones that are of insufficient size (100K and above is best) to apply the painting technique to (unless the final canvas requested is fairly small). The photos into art resulting from these files usually have blotchy spots where pixel colors tend to bunch up and don't meet our quality standards. Since we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, it is not in anyone's best interest to try to force an insufficiently sized photo into a painting.

There can also be a problem when older hard copy photos are scanned by the customer then the scan is uploaded. Many of these are fine, but some make the conversion of your photos into art difficult because of either insufficient scan size settings or a lot of dust and scratches on the image. This can usually be overcome by retouching but the optimal photos into art scan will be clean and at least 500K or larger.

When you only have a hard copy print, because it is from before the digital age or because you have lost the digital file, don't worry. We currently are not charging for scans that we do for you. So if you don't have access to a scanner or aren't particularly 'tech saavy', just mail the print to us at Your Photo To Painting, 11977 Marbon Meadows Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32223. We can help turn photos into art by producing a nice clean scan, entering your account into our database and safely return your original image to you. We know that these are one-of-a-kind precious photos and promise to take good care of them for you.

So that we are able to both set up your account and notify you when your free, no-obligation digital painting proof is ready, please accompany your photos with the following contact information: Name, address, phone and email address. We will send out a proof notice when your painting proof is ready to view online in your own viewing space. That proof notice will have simple instructions for logging in to see your proof and how to request additional proofs should you want to see any alternative approaches for comparison. We will leave the first proofs visible for that reason.

We will either return your originals with your painting or separately if you decide that you don't want to buy a painting at that time.
