Painting From Photos of Children
Painting from photos of children.Turning pictures to art is especially gratifying when you are a parent or grandparent. There is a special pride and love for these little ones that can't be described unless you've been there. As the above video demonstrates, there is a magic that happens when everyday activities, those candid moments are caught and preserved on canvas. There is certainly a place for formal portraiture, and their settings. But after getting to know the vibrant joy that most children exude, it is the informal moments that can capture the fondest memories. When painting from photos such as these, how can one not smile when a little girl is caught playing with her purse, digging for who knows what? And the shadows behind her make it such a dramatic composition, with her feathery textured hair. And the infant lying at her father's feet enthralled at his guitar playing and singing - these just beg for a pictures to art conversion. They are everyday subjects, but so classic and personal, very little editing was needed when painting from photos such as these.
Setting up the perfect photo of children can be problematic since they are often so active. When turning these pictures to art some retouching (which we currently do for no charge as a part of the painting process) might be needed. Some of the suggestions you may need to make can include taking out unplanned background elements in order to simplify the composition, or re-cropping and re-centering those quick little subjects. Try to remember that the play of light and shadow is one of the more important aspects contributing to an interesting shot. When painting from photos that aren't as perfect as you'd like, just ask if we can enhance some of these properties to improve the overall shot. In cases of two or more children in the same photograph, we are sometimes asked if one of the children's smile can be changed by sending another similar shot taken at the same time. This is preferable to a totally unrelated reference photo since the angles and lighting are more likely to match. Successful conversions of these pictures to art can also depend on the overall amount of tactile surfaces or general textures that the painting technique's 6-step filtering process can work on for maximum effect. In other words, even though an extreme close-up of a baby's face might be dramatic and full of impact, if 90% of the image is smooth skin, there is little for the photo conversion technique to 'grab hold of' and make your photo look like a painting.
When you love a photo it is often for very personal reasons, not necessarily ones that would pass muster with an art critic. Painting from photos like these is our specialty! We can apply years of artistic experience to bring out the best in any shot so if you are unsure if one of your favorites will work, please upload it for a free, no-obligation proof and decide for yourself. We will turn pictures to art with a proofing system that shows isolated sections enlarged enough to let you see the simulated digital brush strokes. By double-clicking on the proof a larger version will become visible. Painting from photos that lack enough color or contrast is usually not a problem either as these can usually be corrected. Even old fade or yellowed hard copies that get scanned and uploaded can be converted from pictures to art by a restoration process prior top painting. This is also currently free of charge as a part of the proofing process.
